Old-fashioned con artistry makes a comeback, according to KPMG's 'Fraud Barometer'
While rogue traders and professional criminals have been behind the fraud 'super' cases seen in recent years, the latest bi-annual 'Fraud Barometer' from KPMG has shown a rise in individuals committing more traditional scams such as Ponzi schemes, identity theft, cheque fraud and procurement fraud.
In Yorkshire, 26 large frauds (valued at £100k plus) reached the region's Crown Courts during 2012 with a total value of £12.7m.
The Yorkshire & Humber Fraud Forum (YHFF) is a membership organisation designed to promote fraud awareness and successful fraud prevention strategies in both public and private sectors across Yorkshire and the Humber.

Fraud on the rise as financial pressure bites says KPMG
Personal pressures at work and at home are driving more people to commit fraud, a survey by KPMG has suggested.
Identity fraud more than doubled in value to £26.3m in 2012 and counterfeit goods' fraud is at a five-year high. Companies blamed insider fraud perpetrated by either management or employees for 80% of fraud-related financial losses last year. However, the number of cases and value of fraud committed by professionals fraudsters fell in 2012, KPMG said.
